Created in 2008, the ghost/loki scale is used to describe the emotional reaction to internet memes. The scale starts at extreme sadness or depression, and continues up to happiness and euphoria. This scale, while fairly detailed, cannot express other emotions outside of the sad-happy range, the Astley/Solrasi scale would have to be used in other cases (please refer to the Astley/Solrasi article for more details).
Here is the typical layout of the scale:
x-( :'( :( :S :| :) :D
To use the scale the user would place an arrow under the point on the scale that would match the users feeling at the time. Sometimes this can be used sarcastically (see Solrasi vs. The People of #1337, 2007).
